Of the generally panned-by-critics ‘reality TV’ genre of programming that has emerged over the last decade, some of the ones that thrust it into popularity are arguably exempt from criticism on their own by being relatively groundbreaking at the time, one of which being The Osbournes.
And it now seems as though they are coming back to show the rest of the reality TV world how it’s done, with Sharon Osbourne claiming that her celebrity power-couple with Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne, and their children, will soon be back on TV screens with a return of their former MTV show The Osbournes.
Whether it will be on MTV remains to be confirmed, but a likely outcome, with Sharon confirming that the foursome are to begin filming in January, for their first appearance of the show in a decade, after originally airing between 2002-2005.
Speaking on ITV panel show Loose Women, Sharon claimed of her husband’s wishes: “Ozzy’s decided he wants to do another few episodes, about eight, of The Osbournes. It’s been 13 years since we first did it. He said for the three years we did [the series] he was drunk the whole time and he’d like to be sober. As I say it’s not forever, no more than eight episodes. It’s a kind of a catch-up, what they’re doing now.”
